Her satt nesten 20 000 fanger i l\u00f8pet av de fire \u00e5rene leiren eksisterte. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Blant dem var det mange &laquo;tause helter&raquo;, men ogs\u00e5 en rekke personer som senere skulle bidra til \u00e5 forme etterkrigstidens Norge, som Einar Gerhardsen, Odd Nansen, Arnulf \u00d8verland og Francis Bull. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;em&gt;Fangene p\u00e5 Grini&lt;\/em&gt; er skrevet av kjente og ukjente grinifanger rett etter krigen. Den ble opprinnelig utgitt i 1946 under navnet &lt;em&gt;Griniboken&lt;\/em&gt;, og var p\u00e5 to bind og over tusen sider. Dette er en forenklet og redigert utgave der noen av de viktigste historiene er hentet ut for \u00e5 tilgjengeliggj\u00f8re fortellingene for dagens lesere.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Fordi boken er skrevet rett etter frigj\u00f8ringen av tidsvitner som opplevde krigens brutalitet p\u00e5 egen kropp, kommer vi tett p\u00e5 fangenes erfaringer. Perspektivet og stemmene til de tidligere fangene er tankevekkende og fortsatt aktuelle. En unik form for fellesskap oppsto under det strenge soningsoppholdet. Her er egne kapitler om de d\u00f8dsd\u00f8mte, kvinnebrakkene, religion og motstandskamp blant fangene.
