For \u00e5 illustrere hvilken rik sagnskatt som fremdeles eksisterte ute blant folk, ble anmeldelsen tillagt pendanter og varianter til Fayes tekster. Og for \u00e5 hjelpe ham til flere ukjente sagn, og trolig ogs\u00e5 for \u00e5 f\u00e5 fylt avisspaltene med stoff, fant Feilberg dessuten p\u00e5 \u00e5 oppfordre leserne til \u00e5 supplere ham med mer.<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>Av mangelfull respons m\u00e5 Feilberg selv ha bidratt flittig til \u00e5 samle og gjenfortelle sagn, og s\u00e5 har han i tillegg kontaktet bekjente i Tr\u00f8ndelag, \u00d8sterdalen og Grevskapene og bedt dem om bidrag. Dermed har tekstmaterialet f\u00e5tt mer nasjonalt enn lokalt preg. Dette var trolig f\u00f8rste gang i verden at det ble gjennomf\u00f8rt innsamling og publisering av folkediktning gjennom dagspressen. Tittelen \u00abUgeblad\u00bb skyldtes at avisen, da den ble etablert i 1830, utkom med ett nummer for uka, men med to nummer ukentlig fra 1832. De publiserte sagnene ble nok mindre godt ivaretatt enn hva Feilberg h\u00e5pet p\u00e5, ettersom Faye aldri utga noen oppf\u00f8lger, men kun en revidert utgave av pionerverket. Det er dagspressens lodd, at ingen bryr seg om g\u00e5rsdagens \u00abnyheter\u00bb. Dermed har kunnskapen om det verdifulle sagnmaterialet g\u00e5tt n\u00e6rmest up\u00e5aktet hen. Det samme gjelder Feilbergs bemerkelsesverdige initiativ.
