Lindb\u00e4ck-Larsen var stabssjef under general Fleischer ved krigsutbruddet og spilte en n\u00f8kkelrolle ved felttoget i Nord-Norge og i m\u00e5nedene etterp\u00e5. Senere satt han i tysk fangenskap i M\u00f8llergata, p\u00e5 Grini og i Sachsenhausen.  I disse etterlatte dokumentene gir han sitt syn p\u00e5 det som skjedde i Nord-Norge, og forteller usentimentalt om tilv\u00e6relsen som politisk fange.  Dokumentene kaster nytt og ikke alltid smigrende lys over en rekke krigshistoriske forhold som hittil har ligget i halvskyggen. Det gjelder forsvarssjef Otto Ruges disposisjoner, selve kapitulasjonsavtalene og dessuten samr\u00f8ret mellom norske og tyske milit\u00e6re i Finnmark sommeren 1940.  Boken har en introduksjon av historiker Lars Borgersrud og generalmajor Torkel Hovland.
