Arkitektene H\u00e5kon Christie og Knud Krogh har i mange \u00e5r arbeidet med tolkningen av det omfattende materialet om kirkene ved Lusterfjorden. Sentralt st\u00e5r unders\u00f8kelsen av &laquo;svillenes g\u00e5te&raquo;: to grunnstokker som opprinnelig var tillagd som sviller. Resultatene er sv\u00e6rt viktige for stavkirkeforskningen.
