Hun har en grad i teatervitenskap og jobbet som teaterregiss\u00f8r p\u00e5 Volkstheater Rostock f\u00f8r videre studier ved instituttet for tysk litteratur i Leipzig. Debutboken <em>Halbschwimmer<\/em> kom ut i 2003 etterfulgt av romanen <em>Die Staubfanger<\/em> i 2007.<\/p>\n<p><em>Marzahn, mon amour<\/em> kom ut i Tyskland i 2019 og ble liggende lenge p\u00e5 Spiegels bestselgerliste. Boken ble valgt som Berlin Reads One Book 2021, og k\u00e5ret som vinner av Internatinal Dubliner Literary Award 2023.
